Wednesday TODAY'S READINGS: DIDACHE | COMPANION | SABBATH DIDACHE YOU INVEST...
“…he called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’ “ – Luke 19:13
Late 2004, I joined the Light of Jesus Family. I was a baby Christian. In 2005, I joined the Intercessory Ministry. There I learned much about communicating with God and deepening my relationship with Him.
Then I joined the Service Team where I learned about teamwork, administrative work and organizing activities. After this, I joined the Training Ministry. I also learned to make training modules and conduct workshops. Later, I became the servant head of the Intercessory Ministry and a group of single women. Since 2007, I have been Intercessory Committee head of the Kerygma Conference. I used to write my reflections and just share them with friends. Now, I was given the opportunity to write for Didache. As you read this, my first book may be out in the market.
I never imagined that I would be doing all these, considering that I am inexperienced and I have a physical handicap. But God, by His grace, gave me a gold coin and said, “See what you can earn with this…” As He assured me and increased my faith, He helped me gain and bless others with my gold coin. Ma. Luisa dela Cruz (ma_luisa2004@yahoo.com) REFLECTION:
What gold coins has God given you? How can you enhance and use them?
Dearest God, help me to develop and share the time, talents and treasure You have entrusted to me. Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top COMPANION 1st READING
The four creatures mentioned in verse 7 are those assigned to the four Gospels as symbols for them in the Tradition of the Church. The eagle is assigned to the Gospel of John, the man to Luke, the ox/bull to Mark and the bear to Matthew. When we see these animals depicted in stain glass windows, this is usually what they are referring to.
Revelation 4:1-11
1 I, John, had a vision of an open door to heaven, and I heard the trumpetlike voice that had spoken to me before, saying, “Come up here and I will show you what must happen afterwards.” 2 At once I was caught up in spirit. A throne was there in heaven, and on the throne sat 3 one whose appearance sparkled like jasper and carnelian. Around the throne was a halo as brilliant as an emerald. 4 Surrounding the throne I saw twenty-four other thrones on which twenty-four elders sat, dressed in white garments and with gold crowns on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. Seven flaming torches burned in front of the throne, which are the seven spirits of God. 6 In front of the throne was something that resembled a sea of glass like crystal. In the center and around the throne, there were four living creatures covered with eyes in front and in back. 7 The first creature resembled a lion, thesecond was like a calf, the third had a face like that of a human being, and the fourth looked like an eagle in flight. 8 The four living creatures, each of them with six wings, were covered with eyes inside and out. Day and night they do not stop exclaiming: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come.” 9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne and worship him, who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns before the throne, exclaiming: 11 “Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things; because of your will they came to be and were
created.”
P S A L M Psalm 150:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6
R: Holy, holy, holy Lord, mighty God!
1 Praise the LORD in his sanctuary, praise him in the firmament of his strength. 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds, praise him for his sovereign majesty. (R) 3 Praise him with the blast of the trumpet, praise him with lyre and harp, 4 praise him with timbrel and dance, praise him with strings and pipe. (R) 5 Praise him with sounding cymbals, praise him with clanging cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Alleluia. (R)
G O S P E L The grace of God cannot exist in a vacuum. This means that we have to respond to the grace He offers us if we want it to have a lasting effect upon our lives. Aquinas tells us that the grace of God builds on nature. Thus we have to provide the fertile ground of our lives and open will if His grace is going to flourish and bear fruit in us. Let us remember to always cooperate with God’s grace no matter what this might mean.
Luke 19:11-28
11 While people were listening to Jesus speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately. 12 So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return. 13 He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’ 14 His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, ‘We do not want this man to be our king.’ 15 But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading. 16 The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’ 17 He replied, ‘Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’ 18 Then the second came and reported, ‘Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.’ 19 And to this servant too he said, ‘You, take charge of five cities.’ 20 Then the other servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief, 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’ 22 He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant; 23 why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’ 24 And to those standing by he said, ‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.’ 25 But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’ 26 ‘I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 27 Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.’ ” 28 After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem. my reflections

READ THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR Jeremiah 31-34
Didache | Companion | Sabbath | Top SABBATH Our Image of God
In his controversial 2007 book which topped the New York Times Bestseller list, author Christopher Hitchens claims that man is not made in the image of God, but that God is made in the image of man. A look at various religions seems to support his statement. For example, the Greeks and Romans described their gods as quarrelsome, promiscuous, envious and in love with good food and wine — an image that reflects their own character and way of life.
Many readers are shocked when they open the Old Testament and read about God as a fierce warrior, a punishing God and a revengeful God. It was only Jesus, the Son of God, who taught us what God is really like: a loving Father, just, merciful and forgiving.
In spite of what Jesus has revealed about His Father, however, many still have a distorted image of God. The third servant in today’s Gospel passage had such a distorted image of his master that he was afraid of him, thinking he was a strict and cruel man. But the master’s generous treatment of the two other servants reveals that he was a just man who did not exploit his servants but gave them more than what they had expected. The third servant’s distorted image of the master brought about his downfall.
What is your image of God? Our image of God was probably shaped during our childhood days. Parents, teachers, catechists, as well as holy pictures have contributed to how we see God. A cruel father can cause lifelong damage in his child’s relationship with God. An overly strict priest who always scolds people can cause the same harm. If, on the other hand, we see God as one of our barkadas, we would not take Him that seriously that we are tempted to just pat His shoulder when we have done something wrong and say, “Hey, you understand.” It is crucial that we develop the proper image of God, based on the teaching of the Church which mirror the words of Jesus about Himself and about His Father. The more we read the New Testament and reflect on the words of Jesus about God, the closer we will get to God’s real image. Fr. Rudy Horst, SVD
Reflection Question:
What image do I have of God? Do I fear Him?
Lord, thank You for helping us find our way to God. You became one of us to show us through Your life and teaching who God really is. Lord, You are the best image of God!
St. Hilda, pray for us.

Never Too LATE, Tumatanda Ka Na... nice read from my email...

May multivitamins, vitamin E, vitamin C, royal
jelly, tsaka ginko biloba.

Dati, laging may inuman.

Balikan mo sila.

Ikaw ang nagbago, hindi ang mundo.

HOLDING ON.....This is really amazing ...

at the end of this story, it gives you two options.
I think you will figure out what option I chose.

Dallas as the doctor walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. She was still groggy from surgery.

Her husband, David, held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news.

That afternoon of March 10, 1991 , complications had forced Diana, only 24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency Cesarean to deliver couple's new daughter, Dana Lu Blessing.

At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound nine ounces, they already knew she was perilously premature.

Still, the doctor's soft words dropped like bombs.
"I don't think she's going to make it," he said, as kindly as he could.

"There's only a 10-percent chance she will live through the night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future could be a very cruel one"

Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctor described the devastating problems Dana would likely face if she survived.

She would never walk, she would never talk, she would probably be blind, and she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on.

"No! No!" was all Diana could say.

She and David, with their 5-year-old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a family of four.

Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away
13unknownname

But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for David and Diana.

Because Dana's underdeveloped nervous system was essentially 'raw', the lightest kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn't even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strength of their love.

All they could do, as Dana struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light in the tangle of tubes and wires, was to pray that God would stay close to their precious little girl.

There was never a moment when Dana suddenly grew stronger.

But as the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an ounce of strength there.

At last, when Dana turned two months old, her parents were able to hold her in their arms for the very first time.

And two months later, though doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of surviving, much less living any kind of normal life, were next to zero, Dana went home from the hospital, just as her mother had predicted.

Five years later, when Dana was a petite but feisty young girl with glittering gray eyes and an unquenchable zest for life.

She showed no signs whatsoever of any mental or physical impairment. Simply, she was everything a little girl can be and more. But that happy ending is far from the end of her story.

One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in Irving , Texas , Dana was sitting in her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local ball park where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing.

As always, Dana was chattering nonstop with her mother and several other adults sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent . Hugging her arms across her chest, little Dana asked, "Do you smell that?"

Smelling the air and detecting the approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, "Yes, it smells like rain."

Dana closed her eyes and again asked, "Do you smell that?"

Once again, her mother replied, "Yes, I think we're about to get wet. It smells like rain."

Still caught in the moment, Dana shook her head, patted her thin shoulders with her small hands and loudly announced,

"No, it smells like Him.

It smells like God when you lay your head on His chest."

Tears blurred Diana's eyes as Dana happily hopped down to play with the other children.

Before the rains came, her daughter's words confirmed what Diana and all the members of the extended Blessing family had known, at least in their hearts, all along.

During those long days and nights of her first two months of her life, when her nerves were too sensitive for them to touch her, God was holding Dana on His chest and it is His loving scent that she remembers so well.

You now have 1 of 2 choices. You can either pass this on and let other people catch the chills like you did or you can delete this and act like it didn't touch your heart like it did mine.

IT'S YOUR CALL!

"I can do all things in Him who strengthens me."

This morning when the Lord opened a window to Heaven, He saw me, and He asked: "My child, what is your greatest wish for today?" I responded:

"Lord please, take care of the person who is reading this message, their family and their special friends. They deserve it and I love them very much" The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end.

answered prayer

For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision or uncircumcision counts for anything,

but only faith working through love. – Galatians 5:6

Clarissa was raped when she was 15 years old. From this sad experience came a
pretty baby girl. Her friends advised her to abort the baby so she could go on
with her life. But she didn’t listen to them. After five years of living a
hand-to-mouth existence, she decided to leave for Shanghai and work in a factory

with a meager salary.
Every night she would ask the Lord to make it possible for her daughter to join
her in China. She’d cry herself to sleep, hugging a small pajama top of her
daughter, imagining that she would soon get answers from God. Little did she
know that her supervisor witnessed her anguish and was determined to help her.
She was an asset to the company and the officers decided to help her. One day,
she was called to the office of the Administrator and was told that they were
sending her home (she was trembling because she thought she was being fired!) to

fix the papers of her daughter so she could join her in China. They were giving
her an all-expense-paid trip, including money for the visa fees and pocket
money.

Really, the important thing is faith — the kind of faith that works through
love. Chelle Crisanto (ellehcmaria@yahoo.com)

REFLECTION:
God knows our needs. He is our Provider.

I love you, Lord, and I want to believe that You love me. And because You love
me, please remind me that I must never doubt. And that I must believe that You
will help me in
my deepest need.

1st READING

Paul tells us that the freedom that comes with faith in Christ is full and
total. What a joy and relief this is. Unfortunately, we do not experience this
total freedom because we choose to place ourselves back under slavery through
sinning. It is hard to work out the logic of why we sin when we know the
wonderful life that is offered to us if we reject sin. This tension demonstrates

the power and attraction of the pleasures of the world, the most common cause of

sin. What this means is that we need to open our hearts more fully to the truth
of what salvation offers us so that the world will no longer be an attractive
option to us.

Galatians 5:1-6
1 Brothers and sisters: For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not

submit again to the yoke of slavery. 2 It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if

you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. 3 Once
again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to
observe the entire law. 4 You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to
be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For through the Spirit, by
faith, we await the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus, neither
circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working
through love.

Psalm 119:41, 43, 44, 45, 47, 48
R: Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
41 Let your mercy come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise.
(R) 43 Take not the word of truth from my mouth, for in your ordinances is my
hope. (R) 44 And I will keep your law continually, forever and ever. (R) 45 And
I will walk at liberty, because I seek your precepts. (R) 47 And I will delight
in your commands, which I love. (R) 48 And I will lift up my hands to your
commands and meditate on your statutes. (R)

G O S P E L

Good health demands that we take certain washing precautions before eating, not
religion. Religion or faith is concerned with the state of our inner being and
the best way to clean that is through repentance and an obedience to the
Father’s will. What is the sign of a clean heart? Well it has nothing to do with

water. The best sign of a clean heart will be a holy and righteous life.

Luke 11:37-41
37 After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He
entered and reclined at table to eat. 38 The Pharisee was amazed to see that he
did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal. 39 The Lord said to him,

“Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish,
inside you are filled with plunder and evil. 40 You fools!

my reflections t h i n k : The best sign of a clean heart is a holy and
righteous life. Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? 41 But as

to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.”

The Power Of Giving Alms

Time and again, the Gospel authors mentioned Jesus as having access to the minds

and hearts of the people around Him. He criticized the Pharisees for being
externally clean yet internally impure, for external acts should be connected
with the internal disposition. Words are not enough. Actions are better. But
intentions make actions perfect and effective.
Jesus told the Pharisees to give alms and they would be cleaned. What about
giving alms? The Gospel gives us an idea on how important it is. It not only
invites generosity but also encourages sacrifice on the giver’s part. More
importantly, it is a response to God’s call to be a neighbor to your neighbor.
The act benefits the receiver physically, and hopefully leads him to appreciate
his neighbor’s goodness, and ultimately leads him to God’s everlasting love. The

giver benefits not only in the satisfaction of having helped one in need but in
being given the grace of salvation.
Cardinal Rosales’s Pondo ng Pinoy stresses this: “Ano mang magaling, kahit
maliit, basta’t malimit, patungong langit!” (Anything that is good, no matter
how little, if done habitually, leads to eternal life!) It is based on the
parable of Lazarus and the rich man who, while on earth, never gave Lazarus alms

in spite of the latter always waiting for a little mercy at his gate. So, when
both died, Lazarus went to heaven and the rich man went to hell. Jesus’ parable
points out that Lazarus went to heaven because he endured and accepted his
situation. He did not do any evil to free himself from poverty. His faithfulness

brought him to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man, however, met his fate because

he lacked in generosity. Had he, out of his goodness, given Lazarus a piece of
bread even the size of a crumb, he would have merited heaven. Jesus showed here
that giving alms, no matter how small, if done sincerely, may lead one to
heaven.

The beauty of Jesus’ teaching is the fact that all are capable of generosity.
The Plenary Council of the Philippines says,  “Nobody is so poor that he can not

give. Nobody is so rich that he will not be in need!” If giving alms leads to
salvation, then all can be saved. Fr. Benny Tuazon

Reflection Question:
Is charity a part of your daily life? Are you always willing to share your time,

talent or your treasure to others in need? Do you realize the power of giving
alms in helping people know God more?

Lead me to bless others, Father, with the blessings You have showered upon me.

St. Fiace, pray for us.
